Chloe completed her MRI procedure yesterday and it went smoothly.\u00a0 She woke up much easier this go round.\u00a0 For her, because\u00a0the docs order\u00a0an MRI with contrast it means having an IV.\u00a0 She requires total anesthesia at this time for comfort, less nerves.\u00a0 I suspect she will be able to have and IV in the future and it be successful.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Anesthesia is a tricky thing.\u00a0 She had a rougher ride in recovery 3 months ago.\u00a0\u00a0Yesterday we had the right team in place who searched her chart for answers on this.<\/p>\n
By the way, her chart is impressive in size.\u00a0 The nurses always mention it to me and I was finally able to see what they mean.\u00a0\u00a0Picture a sandwich you coudln’t even imagine sinking your teeth into.<\/p>\n
Three months ago, the doc had Chloe breathe the Gas all the way through the procedure then at the end\u00a0, gave her ‘liquid” sedative.\u00a0 The Gas was harsh on her throat…she tasted it, had\u00a0difficulty swallowing.\u00a0Basically she was drugged out for quite awhile and we stayed in recovery over 45 minutes.\u00a0<\/p>\n
You know how its said, “Timing is everything?”.\u00a0 Yesterdays anesthesiologist decided to LISTEN to me, so she searched back 6 months ago when the MRI went smooth as honey and heres what she discovered.\u00a0 Give Chloe the “Gas” for a short period of time, then early in the procedure(as opposed to late) inject the propynol, giving it a chance to wear off gradually.\u00a0 This leaves the patient less groggy.\u00a0 Recovery was about 25 minutes or less.<\/p>\n
She was asking for a double Cheeseburger from McDonalds, with fries an hour later.\u00a0 Since she hadn’t been\u00a0allowed to eat because of anesthesia\u00a0, we headed there.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
and I was alright with that.<\/p>\n
