{"id":34,"date":"2008-07-03T20:56:42","date_gmt":"2008-07-04T03:56:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.chloewatts.com\/wordpress\/?p=34"},"modified":"2008-07-04T00:25:29","modified_gmt":"2008-07-04T07:25:29","slug":"thursday-july-3rd","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.chloewatts.com\/wordpress\/?p=34","title":{"rendered":"Thursday, July 3rd:"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"0in 0in 0pt;\"><span style=\"Times New Roman;\">We are hoping for a firecracker release tomorrow.<span style=\"yes;\">  <\/span>No promises of course, but if she does okay tonight they will try and spring her.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"0in 0in 0pt;\"><span style=\"small;\"><span style=\"Times New Roman;\">Not that today was a piece of cake for sure.<span style=\"yes;\">  <\/span>She is still pushing around a low-grade fever, some pain and some nausea.<span style=\"yes;\">  <\/span>And if she goes home it will be with her feeding tube and pain meds.<span style=\"yes;\">  <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"0in 0in 0pt;\"><span style=\"small;\"><span style=\"Times New Roman;\">About 10 A.M. Dr. Olsen came in to give Dana and me the news of a possible release.<span style=\"yes;\">  <\/span>The tests taken yesterday have shown clear fluids in her spine and at the incision site.<span style=\"yes;\">  <\/span>Still lots of white blood cells but nothing surprising.<span style=\"yes;\">  <\/span>She also needs to get her red cells up after so many blood draws.<span style=\"yes;\">  <\/span>She had 10cc of fluid buildup in the surgical cavity, which may be part of her problems.<span style=\"yes;\">  <\/span>They were able to drain that okay yesterday.<span style=\"yes;\">  <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"0in 0in 0pt;\"><span style=\"Times New Roman;\">Her pain level floated around from all the activity yesterday and we really didn\u2019t see much of Chloe today\u2026 or rather, she didn\u2019t see much of us, because her eyes were closed most of the morning.<span style=\"yes;\">  <\/span>If nothing else she slept well, both last night, through the thunderstorm and this morning, through the nurses.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"0in 0in 0pt;\"><span style=\"small;\"><span style=\"Times New Roman;\">Dr. Olsen also took us to look at the MRIs.<span style=\"yes;\">  <\/span>It\u2019s amazing how much of the tumor they were able to take out; however, as I\u2019ve stated before, the area of the remaining tumor is of the most concern.<span style=\"yes;\">  <\/span>That is an area that can cause all of her symptoms and is also an area that can\u2019t be tampered with, without the possibility of some serious consequences.<span style=\"yes;\">  <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"0in 0in 0pt;\"><span style=\"small;\"><span style=\"Times New Roman;\">What it looks like at this point is we will go home ASAP and bring her back in three months for another MRI.<span style=\"yes;\">  <\/span>The tumor needs to show its hand.<span style=\"yes;\">  <\/span>If it just hangs out and doesn\u2019t grow we may have a long-term monitor situation.<span style=\"yes;\">  <\/span>If it decides to get aggressive on us then we will have to get aggressive with it in the form of, further surgery, Chemo or Radiation.<span style=\"yes;\">  <\/span>The latter is the last choice as it can cause more tumors.<span style=\"yes;\">  <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"0in 0in 0pt;\"><span style=\"Times New Roman;\">Before the doctor got here Dana was able to get Chloe into the shower.<span style=\"yes;\">  <\/span>It\u2019s been a few days and you know what they say, after three days fish and little girls stink.<span style=\"yes;\">  <\/span>Of course, we\u2019d never say anything like that about Chloe\u2026. She\u2019d get us back!<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"0in 0in 0pt;\"><span style=\"Times New Roman;\">Sarah (I\u2019m not sure of her title but she\u2019s a social worker type) came in to talk to Chloe about her Journey Beads.<span style=\"yes;\">  <\/span>It seems last night Dana asked her what she needed.<span style=\"yes;\">  <\/span>Chloe decided on a whole handful of beads that represent Brave.<span style=\"yes;\">  <\/span>She asked for 5 that represented the number of times she was angry.<span style=\"yes;\">  <\/span>And ONE for the number of times she was scared\u2026 just before surgery.<span style=\"yes;\">  <\/span>Pretty impressive I\u2019d say.<span style=\"yes;\">  <\/span>She asked Sarah for a handful of beads that represented A Bad Day.<span style=\"yes;\">  <\/span>She has a pretty nice necklace going with these beads and may have to do two to use all the beads she has now.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"0in 0in 0pt;\"><span style=\"Times New Roman;\">After noon the dreaded PT and OT ladies arrived.<span style=\"yes;\">  <\/span>Chloe tried to fake her way out of that visit but it didn\u2019t work.<span style=\"yes;\">  <\/span>She did very well with it even though it\u2019s not her favorite time of day.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"0in 0in 0pt;\"><span style=\"Times New Roman;\">After PT and OT, Diane, the Child Life Angel, showed up to bring Chloe to the kitchen area.<span style=\"yes;\">  <\/span>They were going to make cupcakes.<span style=\"yes;\">  <\/span>Chloe did most of the work exhibiting a very interesting method of cracking eggs.<span style=\"yes;\">  <\/span>Not sure I\u2019ve ever seen it done quite like that.<span style=\"yes;\">  <\/span>It involved a butter knife and some very scary angles of attack.<span style=\"yes;\">  <\/span>Dave and Ramona showed up just before the cakes went into the oven.<span style=\"yes;\">  <\/span>By then Chloe was looking pretty pasty.<span style=\"yes;\">  <\/span>So Dave and Ramona took her back to the room and Dana and I watched the cakes.<span style=\"yes;\">  <\/span>They came out Great!<span style=\"yes;\">  <\/span>But that wasn\u2019t a surprise with lil\u2019 miss Chloe Rea doin\u2019 da cookin\u2019.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"0in 0in 0pt;\"><span style=\"Times New Roman;\">Back in her room she came back to good color and started getting into her evening pick-me-up.<span style=\"yes;\">  <\/span>The one thing she left behind tonight was her fever!<span style=\"yes;\">  <\/span>Yea for that.<span style=\"yes;\">  <\/span>Let\u2019s keep it there Girl!<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"0in 0in 0pt;\"><span style=\"Times New Roman;\">I left the hospital about 8 P.M., shortly after Dave and Ramona, and the girls were going to watch \u201cHopkins\u201d tonight.<span style=\"yes;\">  <\/span>You\u2019d think they had enough of hospitals.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"0in 0in 0pt;\"><span style=\"Times New Roman;\">So the prayers for tonight are to have everything stay in an acceptable range so we can get Chloe home where she belongs.<span style=\"yes;\">  <\/span>That\u2019s when the help will be more than welcomed so keep the emails of suggestions coming.<span style=\"yes;\">  <\/span>Dana will be swamped with taking complete care of Chloe, so, along with going back to work, she will be fixing meals, cleaning the house, taking care of Colin, taking care of the yard, answering the phone, are all going to be challenges and some will be pushed aside.<span style=\"yes;\">  <\/span>These are the areas I\u2019ll be helping in and are areas I\u2019m sure she will welcome help.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"0in 0in 0pt;\"><span style=\"Times New Roman;\">Blessings to all of you.<span style=\"yes;\">  <\/span>Ron<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\".\/images\/P7030046.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"images\/P7030046 (WinCE).jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"240\" height=\"180\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We are hoping for a firecracker release tomorrow.
