She\u2019s lovin\u2019 the idea of being home, however, it\u2019s been a conflict.\u00a0 Although she is home she still needs to do things to get better.\u00a0 It didn\u2019t turn off when we left the hospital.\u00a0 It\u2019s almost like she thought she would be stepping into the house whole and complete.\u00a0 Slowly, she is coming back to reality.\u00a0 The more she works the faster she will regain everything, including the ability to swallow and eat.<\/p>\n
Night nurses were a big downer for her until Dana and I both discussed it at length.\u00a0 Without them we would have to stay at the hospital.\u00a0 The two of us can\u2019t do it all and she fully realizes that\u2026 maybe doesn\u2019t like it much\u2026. But realizes it.<\/p>\n
We spent the second night with a nurse at the house.\u00a0 In fact, last night there were two, as one was training so there would be a smooth transition when she takes over in a couple days.\u00a0 There is focus on details all night long.\u00a0 Keeping Chloe safe is our number one concern and we feel that is being realized.\u00a0 We are also getting some good tips from nurses that have done the home care for a while.<\/p>\n
Supplies will be adjusted to fit our needs.\u00a0 Some were delivered that we didn\u2019t need and others need to be exchanged.\u00a0 The company supplying these seems to be working well with us.\u00a0 They probably see a lot of parents that come home just fried and need lots of help and compassion.<\/p>\n
Chloe is having a ball at the house.\u00a0 She has been up and down the stairs many times.\u00a0 Down on her butt and up on her feet with help.\u00a0 Around the levels she either uses her walker or scoots on her butt.\u00a0 She\u2019s trying a lot of different ways to become independent.\u00a0 The only place we definitely don\u2019t leave her alone is in the tub, and she does enjoy her baths.<\/p>\n
Tomorrow we are hoping for sun so she can get outside.\u00a0 It was dry today but cold and there was a lot going on so we stayed in the house.\u00a0 The wheelchair ramp is complete now, with anti skid strips, so we are ready to roll.\u00a0 I\u2019m still considering what to do about the deck and getting her in the back yard.<\/p>\n
Those of you who have been helping with meals have been a God send.\u00a0 Larry came by with a meal and baby monitor last night.\u00a0 What a great gift of each.\u00a0 It\u2019s been a while since we had a good Greek meal.<\/p>\n
Colin has been around also.\u00a0 When he headed out to go to his dad\u2019s house, Chloe stuck out her bottom lip.\u00a0 I think she really enjoys the whole family together.\u00a0 She even played tug-o-war with Ivey for a half hour last night downstairs.\u00a0 It\u2019s probably the most exercise poor Ivey has had in three and a half months.<\/p>\n
