December 5th, 2009 Posted in Daily News PostI’ve not been back to the hospital yet today but here’s what Dana updated me with.
Chloe had the procedure today to try and remove her from the ventilator, however, when they put the scope in they saw lots of gunk and not much action with the vocal cords. So they intubated her again and want to wait a week to see if the swelling going down makes enough difference to allow her to be without the ventilator. He tended to believe there was a chance of that. This means that they will try again in a week. In the mean time she will have the tube in and also be tube fed.
What happens if it’s the same as today? Then the plan is to do a tracheotomy. I don’t want to see this happen, but I do know it is much more comfortable than the tube down the throat. I think it would give her hope a boost as well.
I should know a bit more in a few hours. I’ll be with her later on this evening.
Someone asked about Colin. He isn’t able to go in to see Chloe due to the hospital age restrictions during H1N1 but he has been to the waiting room the past couple nights. He light up when we told him the tumor was gone. I know he’s involved but I’m not sure what he is truly feeling as he masks very well. Outwardly he seems to be doing very well.
Blessings,
Ron

I agree with Ron – from what I see – Colin is demonstrating amazing maturity – he’s looking fwd to Christmas. I asked Dave what he thought regarding Colin – and he agrees that Colin is handling this well. Colin got Chloe a helium balloon last night – he was not excited about the ‘Get Well’ ones – but opted for a helium ballon covered in RED ROSES – “After all,” he said, her middle name is ‘ROSE’ and the ballon says, “I love you” – I’d say that is ‘pretty priceless.’

Thank you for the updates Ron. Again, we are not personal friends, and we only know Chloe, Dana and you from when we attended Celebration Church which we haven’t done for awhile now. Yet, the connection we feel to all of you is strong. Our prayer is this; God, your love is all their really is, and it is beyond question. It is your LOVE that is with Chloe every step of the way. Dear Family: We are sitting in the open air lounge at Waimea Plantation Cottages where wireless service is available; reading today’s blog. A ghecko is cackling from somewhere on the wall or ceiling. The ghecko reminds us of Chloe and her fondness for lizards. We think about how much we love Chloe and Colin and all of you.
Peace out, Uncle Kevin and Aunt Laura

I am so thankful that Ron has been updating the site. And that my mom is there with Chloe and Dana. I wish I was there too.
Rob, Jeremy and I are holding the fort here in Canada. Spent some time out with brother Jeremy last night and felt a little better. Glad I have him at this time. Colin is the best big brother Chloe could ask for.
All my love and thoughts are for Chloe’s recovery.

As Tim said, what you-all are going through is beyond my comprehension, my experience. If there’s anything — and I do mean, anything — I can do, please let me know.
Thanks,
Sarah
